About FOBA This is our philosophy:
Our environment.

As a company operating internationally, we feel a particular responsibility toward the natural world we depend on. Our goal is simple in words but demanding in practice: to treat the resources we use with care and to contribute to protecting and preserving the environment around us.

Our responsibility towards all our resources

As a manufacturer of laser marking systems, we leave traces — ideally only on the products our customers make. We are aware that every form of production consumes resources and has an impact on the environment. This is why we have had our environmental management system certified according to ISO 14001 — not as an accolade, but as a way to regularly review our own expectations and measure ourselves against them.

The resources of our planet are finite. Many essential raw materials and energy sources are already reaching their limits today. Against this backdrop, we see it as our responsibility to act with care. Environmental protection is not an add‑on for us; it is part of our daily work. We continuously work to reduce emissions into water, air, and the surrounding environment as much as possible. Our guidelines commit us to conducting our activities in an environmentally responsible manner and to complying with applicable environmental regulations. We aim to preserve the natural environment — the air, the water, the soil, and all the resources we rely on.

This mindset is something we share across the company. Every individual carries responsibility: to use resources sparingly, to be mindful of energy consumption, and to avoid waste. Wherever possible, we look for alternatives to hazardous substances and reduce potential impacts at their source.

Our environmental management continues to evolve. Systems such as the Veralto Enterprise System (VES), along with modern production methods, help us create processes that support the careful use of resources. ISO 14001 strengthens this path by providing a framework that brings structure to our efforts and helps us track progress in a transparent way.

ISO 14001 – a framework for what matters to us

We have long been working on ways to reduce energy use, material consumption, and emissions. Many of these steps are unspectacular in everyday operations: questioning processes, adjusting workflows, and making small improvements again and again.

With ISO 14001 certification, we have created a framework that helps us continue this work in a structured and consistent way. The standard provides the boundaries — but the motivation comes from within. Our goal is to develop technologies that leave as few traces in the environment as possible.

What this means in our daily work

ISO 14001 is not a label for us — it’s a responsibility. In practice, this means:

  • Keeping a close eye on how much energy and material we use, and reducing it wherever possible
  • Considering environmental aspects when developing new products
  • Raising awareness among colleagues about using resources responsibly
  • Regularly asking ourselves: Can we do this in an even more responsible way?

Conformity of our products

All FOBA products comply with the requirements of the European directives:

  • 2011/65/EU (RoHS) – Restriction of certain hazardous substances
  • 2002/96/EC (WEEE) – Return and environmentally sound disposal of electrical and electronic equipment (Reg. No. DE 92613462)

In addition, our RMA process provides a safe and environmentally responsible way to dispose of laser components that are no longer needed or defective. The RMA form can be downloaded from our website.

Environmental and Health Principles

Our principles form the foundation for responsible business conduct:

  • Compliance with all environmental, health, and occupational safety regulations
  • Reduction of pollutants and waste through appropriate systems and processes
  • Integration of environmental objectives into all relevant areas, from development to service
  • Careful assessment of materials and processes for their potential impact
  • Regular audits relating to environmental protection, health, and safety
  • Proper, material‑specific waste disposal
  • Use of recyclable and reprocessed materials wherever possible
  • Open communication and transparency when addressing questions or concerns from the public

A quiet line to end with:

We know we cannot solve every environmental challenge on our own. But we can take responsibility for our part — and that is what we work on every single day.
